I welcome our esteemed students to the Department of Economics, Lead City University, Ibadan. Our B.Sc Economics Programme is specifically designed to expose students to concepts, theories of economic analysis and research methods, which have practical application in the global workplace. It is also designed to develop and improve students’ understanding of analysis of data on socio-economic issues, using relevant statistical and econometric techniques in economics. Students admitted into this department are advised to familiarize themselves with the handbook as it guides them on course registration requirements and outlines the rules and regulations governing the conduct of examinations in the department. It also explains the mode of course assessment.

The Department of Economics was established in the year 2005 shortly after the approval of licence to operate from the National Universities Commission (NUC). The establishment of the programme (B.Sc. Economics) in the Department of Economics was demand-driven.
The Department of Economics commenced in November, 2005 having been formally approved by the Senate. Since then the programme has developed its own appropriate curriculum to back up its take off. Since 2005, the programme has had its own well-equipped, properly designed and spacious classrooms, offices, as well as full complement of economics lecturers in various areas of specialization such as Macroeconomics, Development Economics, International Economics, Monetary Economics, Labor Economics, Public Finance, Energy Economics.
Furthermore the department had experienced the wealth of knowledge of various professors on full time and sabbatical appointment over the years.

Campbell, Omolara possesses about twenty-five years (25 years) of tertiary education teaching, research and educational administration experience. Her research interest covers Economic Development and Planning, Human Capital Development, Public Finance and Gender related issues. Over the years, she has published in reputable local and international journals. She has contributed chapters in books. Furthermore, she is the author of the book titled “Basics in Economics”. She has also participated in local and mostly international conferences. Her paper presented at one of the international conferences in Chicago, United States of America, was adjudged the best and given the “Best Paper Award” in 2009. The paper presented was majorly extracts from her PhD thesis. She has a number of other awards to her credit. Campbell Omolara is a Visiting Scholar to the Department of Economics and Development Studies, Covenant University, Ota. This position she earned after her meritorious service during her Sabbatical appointment in 2014. She is also a Visiting Scholar to the School of Business and Public Policy, Saint Monica, The American International University, Buea, Cameroon.
Campbell, Omolara is a seasoned educational administrator. She succeeded in presenting the Department of Economics, Lead City University for accreditation in 2009. During the exercise, her activities and presentations of curriculum and course wares among other requirements were highly commendable by the accreditation team from the National Universities Commission (NUC). She has also served as Head of Department of Economics and Sub-Dean of the Faculty of Social and Management Sciences for several sessions. Campbell Omolara is an active member of reputable professional organizations which include American Economic Association (AEA), Nigerian Economic Society (NES), African Growth and Development Policy Modeling Consortium (AGRODEP) and Higher Education Research and Policy Network (HERPNET) among others. She is presently the Head, Department of Economics, Member, Governing Council Lead City University, Ibadan, Member, University Research Committee and University Ceremonial Committee. Campbell Omolara is married and blessed with children.
