Foreword by the Chancellor

I want to welcome our esteemed students to a whole new and exciting world of modern learning in the City! Welcome to Lead City University. Students attending this institution are required to familiarise themselves with this Handbook. The primary responsibility of knowing and fulfilling all requirements rests on the individual student. The Students' Handbook in effect, at the time of admission, governs degree requirements and students' way of life in the campus. It also informs on the code of conduct for all members of the University community.

The University administration reserves the rights, wherever advisable to change or modify its schedule oftuition and fees, to withdraw, cancel, reschedule or modify any course, programme of study or degree or any requirement in connection with any of the foregoing.

The University as an academic environment is autonomous by virtue of the fact that it has a constitution of its own. In no other field  of human endeavour is co-operation more essential than in the business of furthering human knowledge. Thus, the support of the entire community, most especially the student populace is needed to live beyond the vision of the founding fathers of the  university and collectively achieve the mission of the university with the motto “knowledge for self-reliance.”

At Lead City University, we provide a stimulating, yet practical education for our students. We also ensure that they have a great time at school as well as an enviable job prospects when they graduate from the University. This is because we have a professional focus, which is more than evident in our continuing investment in manpower development, technology and new facilities an attitude which reflects our founding spirit. As John F. Kennedy puts it, “Our progress as a nation can be no swifter than our progress in education... The human mind is our fundamental resource!

Dear students, I want to encourage you to live your dreams and be a source of pride and joy to your parents and sponsors as you study at Lead City University, which has been described as “an incredibly vibrant institution that is brimming with self-confidence and an ideal place for modern learning” Once again, you are welcome to Lead City University, Ibadan.

Message from the Vice-Chancellor

Dear Student,

One of the most exciting and life-affirming times is the period in which you will engage yourself in the great adventure of learning aimed at positioning you for positive contribution to the society. The Handbook is packaged to guide all staff and students in their everyday life in the University. It is meant to facilitate their settling down to serious academic work.

The Handbook provides all the information needed to enlighten the students and equip them for the new world-the University Community. The Handbook should be seen as every student companion, which will familiarise him or her with the University. The Handbook interprets and amplifies the current policies, rules and regulations of the University.

LCU acknowledges the fact that every student is unique and needs to seek knowledge and comprehension in an individual manner. Hence, the University provides students with the opportunity to make choices that will put them on a career path suitable to their own particular needs and relevance to the society.

You must count yourself lucky to be a student in this University. Your admission has offered you an opportunity to improve your knowledge and expand your world. This is a golden opportunity, which must be coveted. You are in a specialised University that offers programmes that meet the stringent quality assurance of the National University Commission (NUC). The University will provide a conducive learning atmosphere with small classes and individual attention, to enable you develop optimally during your period of study. You will also have the opportunity to socialise and enjoy a full campus life. However, your new world of academic liberty implies that you conduct yourself as a law-abiding and responsible member of the academic community, by upholding the University's set standards, obeyingregulations and above all, respecting the constituted authority of the University. Every student is expected to display a high standard of personal integrity and morality and use constitutional methods at all times in seeking changes or redress.

On our part, the University will continually strive to fulfill its educational goals by maintaining a fair, humane,responsible and non-discriminatory environment for all students and staff.
