Message from the Vice-Chancellor

Dear Student,

One of the most exciting and life-affirming times is the period in which you will engage yourself in the great adventure of learning aimed at positioning you for positive contribution to the society. The Handbook is packaged to guide all staff and students in their everyday life in the University. It is meant to facilitate their settling down to serious academic work.

The Handbook provides all the information needed to enlighten the students and equip them for the new world-the University Community. The Handbook should be seen as every student companion, which will familiarise him or her with the University. The Handbook interprets and amplifies the current policies, rules and regulations of the University.

LCU acknowledges the fact that every student is unique and needs to seek knowledge and comprehension in an individual manner. Hence, the University provides students with the opportunity to make choices that will put them on a career path suitable to their own particular needs and relevance to the society.
                                                                               
You must count yourself lucky to be a student in this University.  Your admission has offered you an opportunity to improve your knowledge and expand your world. This is a golden opportunity, which must be coveted. You are in a specialised University that offers programmes that meet the stringent quality assurance of the National University Commission (NUC). The University will provide a conducive learning atmosphere with small classes and individual attention, to enable you develop optimally during your period of study. You will also have the opportunity to socialise and enjoy a full campus life.

However, your new world  of academic liberty implies that you conduct yourself as a law-abiding and responsible member of the academic community, by upholding the University's set standards, obeying regulations and above all, respecting the constituted authority of the University. Every student is expected to display a high standard of personal integrity and morality and use constitutional methods at all times in seeking changes or redress.

On our part, the University will continually strive to fulfill its educational goals by maintaining a fair, humane, responsible and non-discriminatory environment for all students and staff.
