As a staff, we are here to support all students by any means necessary, to ensure their fullest academic potential. Faculty of Arts & Education students encounter a highly intensive and challenging academic programme that can push them to work beyond their limits anywhere.
The Faculty goal is to ensure that all students become critical thinkers, seasoned certified teachers, active problem-solvers, inquisitive readers, diligent researchers, sound dramatist, and prolific writers as the case may be.
All hands are on deck to prepare students for the demands of the real-world in order to become productive citizens of the nation, good future leaders and to contribute by given back something positive to the community.
Professor Afolakemi O. Oredein had Bachelor in Science Education Degree (B.Sc Ed. Maths/Statistics), University of Ilorin, 1991; Masters (M.Ed) in Educational Management, University of Ibadan, 1993; Postgraduate Diploma in Statistics (PGDS) at the University of Ibadan, 1996; and Ph.D in Educational Management (Leadership), 2000.
Professor Afolakemi Oredein worked at the Federal College of Agriculture, Ibadan, 1992-2004; Institute of Education, Olabisi Onabanjo University, Ago-Iwoye, Ogun State, 2004-2011; and Lead City University, 2011 till date. Her Professorial Chair was approved by the Governing Council of Lead City University and pronounced by the Chairman of Senate, December, 2014. Professor Oredein is a Professor of Educational Management (Leadership). Professor Oredein is versatile and seasoned scholar.
Professor Oredein has served and still serving in the following capacities in Lead City University; she is a member of the Senate, 2012 till date; the first female Head of Department Educational Management, Faculty of Education, 2012 till date; the first female Sub-dean, Faculty of Education, 2011-2013; the first female Acting Dean, Faculty of Education, 2013; the first female Professor and Dean, Faculty of Arts & Education, 2014-till date; a member, Business Committee, 2014-till date; a member, Student Disciplinary Committee, 2013-till date; and the Secretary, Promotion Criteria Committee, 2014.
She received the National Universities Commission (NUC) for the verification of the Faculty of Education with twelve programmes approved by the NUC, December, 2013. She organized the first Faculty based International Conference on Education in collaboration with Global Education Network (GEN) organisation, 2014 and the second of it is coming up between 28th November and 1st December, 2016. Since she became the Dean of the Faculty of Arts & Education, she has organized annual Faculty lectures. She pioneered the certification of the Education Students as trained teachers by the Teachers Registration Council of Nigeria (TRCN), and the Lead City University happens to be the first private university whose education students are certified as trained teachers in Nigeria.
Professor Oredein has published widely in the area of educational management, and leadership in particular. She has to her credit one (1) textbook solely written titled “Research Methods). She has fourteen (14) chapters in books and forty-four (44) journal articles and 1 conference proceedings making sixty (60) in all. She is currently working on student time management and university climate as predictors of study habits in universities, south-west Nigeria. Professor Oredein has attended many local and international conferences to her credits; she was in Uganda, Kenya, South Africa, Ghana, United States of America, United Kingdom, and Canada to mention few.
Professor Afolakemi Oredein won Charles F. Elton Best Paper Award, May, 2015 and an Excellence Award was given to her by the Initiative for Ogere Development (IOD), December, 2015.
Professor Oredein is a functional member and chartered member of the following academic organizations: Higher Education on Research & Policy Network (HERPNET); Global Education Network (GEN); Kappa Delta Pi (KDP Nigeria Chapter); World Education Research Association (WERA); American Education Research Association (AERA) and Nigerian Association for Educational Administration and Planning (NAEAP). She is a chartered member of Institute of Personnel Management of Nigeria, (MCIPM). She is Editor-in-Chief, African Higher Education Review (AHER), International Online Journal, Available on http://www.airweb.org/AboutUs/AffiliatedIROrganizations/Pages/HERPNET.aspx. 2009-till date;
Editor-in-Chief, East African Journal of Educational Research & Policy (EAJERP), 2010-till date; and Editor-in-Chief, Journal of Capital Development in Behavioural Sciences (JOCADEBS) 2013-till date. JOCADEBS is the Faculty based Journal and is both in print and online, available on http://www.lcu.edu.ng. Professor Oredein has supervised five (5) Mphil/PhD students and eight (8) M.Ed students.
Professor Afolakemi Olasumbo Oredein presented her Inaugural lecture titled ‘Good Leadership for National Development: The Inevitable Fraternal Twins and Irresistible Skills as Matters Arising’ at Lead City University, International Conference, Nigeria, on Wednesday 7th September, 2016 which was well attended.

The Faculty of Arts & Education was officially verified and approved by the National University Commission (NUC) in November 2013 with and fifteen (15) programmes.
The Faculty of Arts & Education has outstanding educators, competent, efficient and effective lecturers who are committed to students’ academic success and the advancement of the university’s vision. Also serve as an educational advisor to the students. Lecturers are given the responsibility and the authority to properly educate the students. Lecturers attend both local and international academic conferences. They publish in wide range of reputable local and international journals. The University Administration encourages and expects excellence from students and staff.
Students uphold the expectations of the University and its community that every child in the university community should reap the benefits of an exemplary education. The university lays emphasis on the conduct, character, and achievements of her students.
The Faculty of Arts & Education recognizes the importance of a strong connection between the community and the university.
The Faculty is committed to providing a diverse and balanced curriculum that stimulates intellectual curiosity and growth. The curriculum is in conformity with the National University Commission Benchmark.
The Faculty have held four Faculty lectures and held First Biennial International Conference in collaboration with the Global Education Network (GEN) in 2014 which was well attended and preparing for the second biennial International Conference between Monday 28th November and 1st December, 2016. The faculty has a reputable journal titled ‘Journal of Capital Development in Behavioural Sciences’. The graduates of education are inducted as certified teachers by the Teachers’ Registration Council of Nigeria (TRCN) at the end of their academic programme.
The first Professor of Educational Management was produced in December 2014 in person of Prof. Afolakemi O. Oredein followed by Prof. Donald Odeleye, a professor of Guidance and Counselling, October, 2015. Prof. Afolakemi O. Oredein presented her Inaugural Lecture on Wednesday 7th September, 2016.
It is worth noting that the Faculty runs Sandwich programme for Education programmes at the Bachelors degree level. The sandwich students receive eight (8) weeks intensive lectures during third term holiday between July and first week in September and examination comes up in December during the primary and secondary school first term break.
